The objective of this project is to compare policies on economic migration and its attendant rights in two regions of the world that have, a priori, very different socioeconomic and political characteristics: Europe and East Asia. The comparison focuses particularly on France, a traditional immigration country in Europe, and South Korea, which has more recently started to experience an interesting phenomenon of worker immigration from various East-Asian countries. The working hypothesis is that, beyond their differences, the legal mechanisms implemented in both countries, based on the concept of selective immigration, may be comparable, at least to some extent.
